Monitoring of the Hydrothermal System of Solfatara Volcano
Physical-numerical modeling The geochemical data set as a basis for physical modelingDischarge of hydrothermal fluids at La Solfatara represents one of the many evidences testifying to the level of activity and the potential danger that characterize the volcanic complex of Campi Flegrei. Recent measurements of diffuse degassing shed light over the unexpected magnitude of this process and prompted further research to improve our current understanding of the hydrothermal system feeding the surface manifestations at La Solfatara. The measured flux of fluids and the released energy, together with other information on subsurface structures and conditions, provided the necessary constraints to perform physical modeling of the hydrothermal fluid circulation at La Solfatara.
