IKONOS Satellite Imaging

The IKONOS satellite image of the Nisyros volcano (Fig. 20) was orthorectified using an accurate Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of Nisyros island and differential GPS measurements. The orthorectification procedure was performed using a software package developed internally within the Department of Photogrammetry and Geodesy of ETHZ. A 3D-flight simulation over the island was derived from the above mentioned orthorectified image, using ERDAS software.
